Art

Years ago I attended a lecture by a collage artist. He started off by defining "art" as "what artists do."

What is called art has become so broad. Thus the definition is rather fitting.

    I guess a combination of definitions 3 and 4 from the Merriam-Webster dictionary would currently define an "artist." The definitions for "art" and "artist" are much more inclusive today. "Performer" is probably the key word.

    3 : a skilled performer; especially : ARTISTE
    4 : one who is adept at something
